Ridi Viharaya in Sri Lanka

Ridi Viharaya is a very important temple located in the ancient Sath Korala Mahadisa in the Kurunegala District.

An interesting story is told in chronicles as well as folklore about how the temple industry took place here during the reign of King Dutugemunu in the Anuradhapura era

The last time in the Kandy era, under the patronage of King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe, the temple industry of the Ridi Vihara was carried out by the first Mahanayake of the Malwathu Maha Vihara Chapter, Sri Siddhartha Buddharakshitha Thera of Thibbatuwa.

Ridi Vihara Pilgrims do not pay much attention to this design.

This series of porcelain tiles, which feature some of the stories from the Bible and the Christian character, also includes some porcelain tiles with floral designs.
It is said that these tiles were offered to the temple by a Dutch governor.  The masons who installed them do not know the order here, so it seems that they were installed arbitrarily.
These so-called Delft Tiles are made in the Delft area of the Netherlands.  It is said that the tiles were placed around the fireplace in the house to make it easier for young children to read religious stories.
Nowadays, it is commendable that a glass cover has been built to protect these tiles.
These ceramic tiles can also be described as a special creation depicting the Christian character in a Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka.
